Media Objectivity - 1226 Words

How has the media’s objectivity been affected by the explosion of information sources? Will individuals increasingly live in worlds of their own ideological and moral construction by further isolating themselves from competing ideas? Are we entering an era of â€Å"choose your truth†? How does information technology further expand the same rifts between civilizations and between individuals in the same communities? How does it bridge those divides? The media has been adversely affected by the explosion of information sources. It has become a tedious and cumbersome endeavor to accurately locate information sources that can stand to even the slightest bit of scrutinizing. Now it is important, as it has always been that the individual must take it upon their self to properly research the subject matter before developing an opinion. Tertiary Learning for Medical Internet Research - myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theTertiary Learning for Medical Internet Research. Answer: Using of credible sources in different academic writings in the universities or other higher-level institutions has a large number of significances. Often different universities expect their students to develop persuasive or argumentative essay I order to understand the skills and knowledge they have developed in their assignments. However, professors want students to collect information that are authentic and had been proved through researches and experiments. However, not all the information that is collected can be authentic and therefore, it requires students to select only sources which are credible (Hyland, 2014). More the credible the sources are, the audiences of the paper will become sure that the assertions used by the tertiary learner are not baseless but are backed up by already proved credible information. Moreover, with the passage of time, new information gets discovered in various domains or in various subjects. For example, the healthcare industry is becoming metamor phic in nature with different scientific discoveries and advancements made every time. Therefore, every healthcare students need to be aware of the advancements to develop their practices and knowledge (Turabian, 2018). They need to go through evidence bases continuously to make sure that they are giving the best service. However, many resources are available which does not provide correct information. Therefore, students should learn to incorporate credible sources only as only credible sources would provide the authentic information that healthcare students can use in their professional practice to develop their knowledge (Wenger-Trayner et al., 2014). Using non-credible sources like personal blogs, internet articles and many others may not provide the correct information. The professor expects every tertiary learner to gain knowledge through acquiring information that is not only the most correct and suitable for the academic writing but is also authentic and most recent so that the information can be trusted (McKinley, 2015). If the arguments presented in the academic papers are not backed by credible sources, the reader may claim otherwise or may reject the argument stating that the argument is not based on proven facts. Therefore, it is extremely important for tertiary learners to use credible sources in their academic writing. An individual who develops information literacy can not only overcome many barriers that come in the pathway of success but can also develop professional people skills. They are able to flourish in the different industries they are working and are always able to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. Individuals also develop ideas about different regulatory issues, industry trends as well as the different competitions that go on in the industry from research journal conducted by eminent scientists and published through renowned publication houses (Mesgari et al., 2015). Often using of the different credible sources can also help me to develop lost of ideas about the legal problem that are faced by the organizations of the industry where I would be working (Diviani et al., 2015). This would help me to be careful while taking decisions that involve legal frameworks. This would prevent me from getting in any legal obligations. Credible sources often provide information that is only proved through experimental observation, conducting randomized trials or conducting different experiments (Braasch et al., 2018). Therefore, the information that they provide is authentic and can help me in my professional fields. Through these credible sources, authors give many recommendations and ideas by which I would be able to overcome many barriers that come in my way. I would try to develop plans that would incorporate the ideas and strategies put forward by the authors of the credible sources. This would help me in helping my organizations to overcome any crisis period that come my way. With the guidance of this credible resources, I will not only be able develop my professional skills but would also develop ideas about how to manage situations effectively. Karanges, E., Johnston, K., Beatson, A., Lings, I. (2015). The influence of internal communication on employee engagement: A pilot study.Public Relations Review,41(1), 129-131. This article is a peer reviewed article which had been conducted by researchers like Emma Karanges, Kim Johnston, Amanda Beatson and Ian Lings. It has been published by one of the most renowned and trustworthy journals like the Elsevier that in turn gives it some degree of credibility. This is mainly because this site had gained huge respect for publishing authentic studies over the year. This study has tried to prove that internal communication has huge importance in maintaining employee engagement and therefore, they had conductive extensive research to find out whether their hypothesis is true or not. They have not just declared it on a personal front without conducting experiments. They have been seen to conduct surveys on an extensive level like around 2000 males and females ranging from the age cohort of 18+ to that 65 years aged employees. The survey had been conducted via email and out of them; about 200 of the responses were selected. Moreover, reliability was measured with proper procedures. Following this, experts had conducted statistical analysis of the data that are indeed important for analyzing the responses and finding out the significances. Linear regression was used and this resulted in finding out the results effectively. The scientists had been successful in finding out the association that actually proved that organizational internal communications as well as internal supervison communication support are indeed successful in maintaining employee engagement. This in turn helps in bringing the best results in the organization by developing the productivity, reducing absenteeism and increasing job satisfaction and retention. Weblink: https://www.hrmblogs.com/2017/02/07/why-internal-communication-is-the-key-driver-of-employee-engagement/ An important site has provided a blog on the same topic stating why internal communication is acting as the key driver of employee engagement. It has been seen that he has provided many important information regarding the topic and had even put in text citations for the comments made by him in his personal blog. However, the most dissatisfactory part of this blog is that the author had not provided a reference list of the in text that he had made. This resulted in questioning the authenticity of the comments made by him. Moreover, he had not conducted any experiment and rather he is writing the article after going through reviews of others or due to his own experiences. Therefore, it might happen that his feelings may be biased. Therefore, the previous article would be considered to be more credible. The credible source helped me to develop the idea that organizational internal communication helps in employee engagement and therefore I should try my best to develop communication skills o that I can engage my employees in the organizational task effectively and help the organization to meet its goals. The Principal Characters in the Merchant of Venice are Motivated Mainly by Money Essay Example For Students

The Principal Characters in the Merchant of Venice are Motivated Mainly by Money Essay On the whole I feel that this is a fairly accurate description of the plays characters, with the mercantile Venice and Belmont (which trades in a different commodity but is trade none the less) mirroring their inhabitants. However to say that money was their only reason would be missing vital elements of the play. The most obviously money orientated character is Shylock. His main priority seems to be his money over everything else including his only family: his daughter Jessica, which can be shown by his reported action on her elopement My ducats and my daughter! A sealed bad, two sealed bags of ducats, of double ducats,. In the speech references to money and wealth outweigh those of concern for his daughter. Shylocks desire for accumulated wealth and status works against him as he is ostracises from society as much for his practice of money lending as his Jewishness. However there is hypocrisy from Antonio who is against usury on principal as a Christian but he himself makes a living by buying goods on a large scale and then selling them on for a profit. Which begs the question of how much difference is there from profit from wheat and profiting from lending money? These prejudices against him from the community leaves Shylock full of anger and hate which leads to a deep seated desire for revenge You call me misbeliever, cut-throat dog, and spet upon my Jewish gabardine and also further betrayal as Jessica ran off with a Christian Oh my daughter! Fled with a Christian! Which leads him to cease the opportunity to reap his revenge on the Christians in the form of the merry bond upon Antonio and so then uses his money for power and justice(at least in his mind), Ill plague him, Ill tortur e him I am glad of it. We will write a custom essay on The Principal Characters in the Merchant of Venice are Motivated Mainly by Money specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Shylock uses money for control and as a substitute for affection which was indicated by Shylocks upset over the frivolous spending of a ring It was my turquoise, I had it of Leah. There is a possibility that the ring was a wedding or engagement ring as turquoise is a stone symbolising fidelity. As a significant other is not mentioned in the play and Jessica must have had a mother, and it may be assumed that she died or left him. This kind of loss may have lead Shylock to see his money as all he has left and so fixate on it. Antonios motivations do not seem to be money based but more out of a desire for Bassanio. He does whatever he can to help his friend, My purse, my person, my extremist means lie all unlockd to your occasion the use of the superlative and repletion, shows that Antonio is truly willing to give his all to Bassanio. His motivations behind this may be scene as questionable as Antonio is evidently much older than Bassanio and does not seem to be gaining much from the friendship as Bassanio has paid his previous debt to Antonio when asking for money to court Portia. This may be scene as Antonio enjoying that he has power over Bassanio as Bassanio is in his debt, he truly loves Bassanio (in a homosexual way or not) or it is the right and proper Christian thing to do, to lend money gratis. However later in the play when he faces loosing Bassanio to Portia Antonio chooses to play the martyr and sends guilt to Bassanio in the form of a letter, all debts are cleard between you and I, if I might but see you at my death the tone is subservient and self pitying, If he truly wanted to serve a martyr and spare Bassanio he would not have sent a letter and let Bassanio be happy. He does not however so this might be scene as Antonio trying to reassert his dominance or regain his once dear friend. .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .postImageUrl , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:hover , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:visited , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:active { border:0!important; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:active , .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746 .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u57107bb6d0273c76ecde4c6a3dc5c746:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: An exploration of the ways in which the Two Film Openings present their Characters and Themes EssayAntonio is similar to Shylock as he asserts his revenge at the end of the court scene for Shylocks attempted murder of him by taking away all his money and making him convert to Christianity, which is possibly one of the cruellest things he could have done, and made worse as it was in the name of justice and mercy. Although Antonio is the merchant of Venice his motives in the play are more to do with his near desperate need to be loved and his anti-Semitism (though typical of the time) than a desire for money. Bassanio seems to be motivated my love and money in equal parts. He sets out to win Portias love but also to solve his money problems in Belmont is a Lady richly left, and she is fair. Bassanio loves Portia and in choosing one of the caskets he give and hazard all he hath but whether his motivation was out of love as opposed to Portias beauty, which is evident as she is coveted by many men, and her wealth left to her by her farther. We are to assume that it is true love due to the classical comedy structure of the play and his reluctance to give his wedding ring away in payment for the services of the lawyer as the dearest ring in Venice will I give you than that of his wife. However he is easily persuaded by Antonio so Bassanios true loyalties and priorities are still blurred at the end of the play. Portia seems to be the least motivated by money of the leading characters as she is very well off and so has no need for the pursuit of wealth. She does however desire love, desires to be free of her fathers bond and most of all she desires Bassanio. Portia could be played as an xenophobe and an elitist, but however in keeping with the themes of appearance and reality within the play, also the requirement of a comedic heroine to be noble and virtuous, Shakespeare may have gone beyond the obvious, clichà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½d implications of the theme and hit on a deeper reality even a beautiful, desirable woman deserves to be loved for her inner self, not just collected like a work of art. Whether this is achieved with Bassanio is debatable as there are no concrete reasons mentioned other than her money and wealth for his interest. Portia however possibly has the same prejudices as the rest of the court. In the court scene she is portrayed like blind justice or a nemesis figure, dealing out judgment and justice, but she may be motivated with revenge and hate against Shylock like the rest of the Venetian court. Portia would not want to see Antonio die and the guilt that Bassanio would suffer as a result would ruin their marriage, and on a less self centred note she would feel it was her duty to help Antonio as he is Bassanios friend and as the married couple are supposed to be half of the same whole, he is her friend too. Many Literary works try to deal with the concepts of love and money as conflicting concepts; however Shakespeare seems to take a more unusual approach by making the two not mutually exclusive, treating love as just another form of wealth. He seems to say that they are blessing to those who pursue them in the right intent. Those who are too possessive, too greedy, will never get pleasure from neither the pursuit of love not from the accumulation of wealth. Bassanio who seeks Portias love and happens to solve his money problems is in contrast with Shylock who is a miser who hordes both his gold and his love and so looses his daughter and his riches simultaneously.
